For every example of a satisfied end user who purchased from a mail =
order house, I can show you TEN who are unhappy. OK, a little =
exaggeration.  The real number is that 15% of the people find mail order =
service to be satisfactory.  The others do not.   Mail order has a =
definite place in the economic scheme of things.   I personally made =
lot's of money in that channel for a very long time.   MOST, not all =
mail order business can NOT most circumstance provide the level of =
service that the DeskStation dealer can provide you.  The DeskStation =
dealer is in your neiborhood!

I don't really want to get in an argument over this, but I feel (and
countless others agree) this was probably one of the single worst
NewTek decisions in the past year. Placing the control of Alpha LW into
the hands of Deskstation was foolish, anti-competitive, and a stab in
the back to every other Alpha vendor that supported NewTek. And its
absolutely another factor to make Pentium Pro solutions all the more
attractive.

I find this ludicrous and typical of a vendor who wants to discredit
their competition. The support I have received for my *non-Deskstation*
based system has been nothing short of outstanding.
